MoH: Cambodia’s First Omicron Patient Has No Major Symptoms

PHNOM PENH: After three days from the discovery, the first Omicron patient in Cambodia still has not shown any major symptoms. This was revealed by the Secretary of State and spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Or Vandine on Thursday. She says that the Ministry of Health is closely monitoring the 15-week pregnant patient who travelled from Ghana and currently undergoing a treatment.

Ministry of Health spokesperson, Or Vandine, has revealed a positive news that the Cambodian woman who arrived in the Kingdom from Ghana detected with Omicron variant of Covid-19 is still very well. She does not have any major symptoms despite carrying the new variant of Covid-19.

The 23-year-old Cambodian woman arrived in Cambodian last Sunday. She came from Ghana then transited to Dubai and Thailand prior to arriving in Cambodia. She was vaccinated with the single shot Johnson & Johnson.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Hun Sen asked the public not to fear the Omicron variant, especially after its discovery in Cambodia. The Prime Minister and the Ministry of Health have assured that the case is under control plus the woman does not have any major symptoms of the virus.

Or Vandine has also echoed the message of the Prime Minister saying there is nothing to fear of but instead continue staying vigilant and implementing the preventative measures of the ‘3 Dos and 3 Don’ts’ and get vaccinated as well as making sure to get the booster shot. She says everyone must act together to prevent the spread of Covid-19, especially the new variants, in order to sustain the return to a new normal life for long run in the context of fighting Covid-19.
